그리스 신화에 이카루스(Icarus) 스토리가 있다. 신화의 줄거리를 보면, 이카루스는 크레타섬의 미궁(라비린토스)을 설계한 천재 장인 다이달로스의 아들이다. 다이달로스는 미궁의 비밀을 아테네의 영웅 테세우스에게 알려주었다는 의심을 사, 아들 이카루스와 함께 자신이 만든 미궁에 갇히게 된다.

인간의 권력욕도 마찬가지다. 필자는 1979년 실종된 김형욱 전 중앙정보부장의 죽음을 추적, 단행본(비록 중앙정보부 전3권)을 발간한 바 있다. 김형욱 전 중앙정보부장은 박정희와 함께 5.16 군사쿠데타에 가담했던 혁명 동지였다. 그가 중앙정보부에 재임한 기간은 6년 8개월(1963년 -1969년). 그는 미국으로 망명한 이후 박정희 제거운동에 앞장섰다. 결국, 그는 1979년 10.26 사건 직전에 주검으로 사라졌다.
