더불어민주당 김정섭 공주시장 예비후보가 17일 ‘역사문화관광’ 분야 정책공약을 발표하며, 공주를 일과 휴식이 공존하는 체류형 관광 도시이자 동아시아 도자 문화의 거점으로 만들겠다는 청사진을 밝혔다.
민선 7기 공주시장을 지낸 김 후보는 이날 오전 10시 30분 기자회견을 통해 8가지 핵심 과제를 제시했다.
김 후보는 주 4.5일제 시대를 대비해 ‘4도3촌(4일은 도시, 3일은 공주)’ 라이프 스타일을 제안했다.
KTX 공주역의 접근성을 활용해 원도심, 계룡산, 석장리 등 주요 거점에 공유 사무공간과 첨단 사무환경을 갖춘 ‘워케이션 센터’를 조성하겠다는 구상이다. 특히 KTX 공주역에 웰컴센터를 설치해 공주형 워케이션의 관문 역할을 수행하도록 할 방침이다.
아울러 원도심에는 학교 재배치 등으로 발생하는 유휴 부지를 활용해 단체 숙박시설인 ‘청춘스테이(유스호스텔)’를 건립, 학생들과 젊은 여행객들이 머물 수 있는 기반을 마련하겠다고 약속했다.
역사적 자산의 현대적 재해석을 통한 관광 활성화 방안도 구체화했다.
조선 3대 도요지 중 하나였던 계룡산 분청사기의 명성을 복원하기 위해 반포면 학봉리 일원에 ‘철화분청사기 문화단지’를 조성한다. 김 후보는 이를 중국, 일본과 잇는 ‘동아시아 도자문화 회랑’으로 발전시켜 국제도자비엔날레를 개최하겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.
또한 동학농민혁명의 격전지였던 우금티 유적지에는 120억 원 규모의 예산을 투입해 ‘평화공원’과 기념관을 설립하고, 국민주권의 발상지를 기념하는 ‘순례길’을 조성해 역사 교육의 장으로 육성할 계획이다.
지역 내 주요 유적지의 체계적 정비도 추진된다. 의당면 수촌리 고분군에는 역사유적공원과 전시관을 세우고, 절재 김종서 선생의 생가 터를 정비해 충의 정신을 기리는 스토리텔링 산책길을 조성한다.
이와 함께 2027년 교황 방한을 계기로 황새바위, 중동성당 등 천주교 성지를 정비하고, 영명학원 설립 120주년과 연계한 기독교 선교 유적 정비사업을 통해 종교 관광객 유치에도 적극 나선다. 2028년 마곡사의 세계유산 등재 10주년을 기념하는 힐링 관광 활성화 사업도 포함됐다.
