청와대가 18일 "(UAE 측이) 한국보다 먼저 원유를 공급받는 나라는 없을 것며 한국은 원유 공급에서 최우선이라며 분명 약속해줬다"고 전했다.
강훈식 비서실장은 이날 오전 UAE 방문 결과 관련 춘추관 브리핑에서 "전 세계적 원유 수급 비상 상황 속에서 UAE(아랍에미리트)는 한국에 최우선 원유 공급을 약속했다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "언제든 UAE를 통해 원유를 긴급 구매토 합의했다"며 "이에 총 1800만 배럴 원유를 긴급 도입키로 확정했다"고 전했다.
또 "양국 간 원유 수급 대체 공급 경로 모색 등 내용이 담긴 '원유 공급망 협력 MOU(양해각서) 체결에 합의했으며 조만간 체결 예정"이라고 전했다.
이어 "UAE 국적 선박 3척에 600만 배럴이 공급되며 한국 국적 선박 6척으로 1200만 배럴을 공급할 계획"이라며 "앞서 공급받은 600만 배럴을 더하면 총 2400만 배럴을 UAE에서 긴급 도입케 됐다"고 전했다.
더불어 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 호르무즈 해협에 대한 한국 군함 파견 요청 관련해선 "내부적으로 검토하고 있어 즉각 답변 하기엔 적절치 않은 시점인 것 같다"며 "공식 요청이 아직 진행된 건 없다"고 기존 입장을 되풀이 했다.
