올해 신규로 추진되는 이 사업은 음성군 뿌리산업 근로자를 대상으로 신규 고용 창출과 장기근속 근로자 지원을 통해 안정적인 고용 환경을 조성하는 것을 목표로 한다.
현재 음성군은 제조업 중심의 산업구조를 지니고 있으며, 금속가공·고무· 플라스틱 등 뿌리산업이 지역경제의 근간을 이루고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 사업장이 50인 미만 소규모 기업으로 구성돼 있어 낮은 임금 수준과 열악한 근로환경으로 인한 인력난, 청년층 기피 현상의 어려움을 겪고 있다.
또한 최근 고용보험 통계에서도 뿌리산업 이직·퇴사율이 신규 취득 비율보다 높게 나타나는 등 고용 불안정성이 지역 산업 경쟁력 약화로 이어질 수 있다는 판단 아래, 이에 대한 선제적 대응책으로 이번 일자리 프로젝트의 설계 및 사업을 제안하게 됐다.
