대전 시민의 대표 수영 명소인 용운국제수영장이 새 단장을 마치고 다음 달 1일 재개장한다.
대전광역시시설관리공단(이사장 이상태)은 2024년 12월부터 진행한 개·보수 공사를 완료하고, 정식 운영에 앞서 오는 3월 30일과 31일 양일간 무료 자유수영 체험 행사를 진행한다고 밝혔다.
이번 보수 공사는 2027 충청권 하계세계대학경기대회(유니버시아드)를 앞두고 경영풀 수심 조정과 타일 교체 등 노후 시설 전반을 개선하는 사업으로, 수영장 내부 환경이 한층 쾌적하게 바뀌었다.
무료 자유수영은 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지(입장 마감 오후 4시) 운영되며, 1인당 최대 3시간까지 이용할 수 있다. 공단은 시민들의 오랜 기다림에 보답하고자 이번 무료 이용 기회를 마련했다고 설명했다.
본격 재개장 이후 용운국제수영장은 이용 정원을 500명 늘리고, 오전 교정반 등 다양한 수영 강습 프로그램을 확대 운영한다. 특히 접근성과 이용 편의 향상을 통해 생활체육 중심시설로서 기능을 강화할 계획이다.
다만, 경기대회 대비 과정에서 다이빙풀의 안전발판이 철거됨에 따라 스킨스쿠버와 프리다이빙 이용은 당분간 제한된다. 공단 관계자는 “시민 안전을 최우선으로 고려한 조치”라며 “향후 시설이 안정화되면 재검토하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 4월 회원 모집은 추첨제 방식으로 진행되며, 3월 23일부터 25일까지 인터넷과 현장에서 동시에 신청할 수 있다.
