청와대가 19일 지난 20대 대선 당시 제기된 '이재명 조폭 연루설' 보도 언론사에 보도 청구권을 행사한다고 밝혔다. 이규연 홍보소통수석은 이날 오후 춘추관 브리핑에서 "사실 관계를 바로 잡는 기사 수정은 아무리 늦더라도 안 하는 거보다 낫다 생각한다"며 이같이 전했다.
최근 대법원은 '이재명 조폭 연루설'을 제기한 장영하 국민의힘 경기 성남시 수정구 당협위원장에게 징역 1년·집행유예 2년을 선고한 원심을 확정한 바 있다.
그러면서 "그간 제기된 의혹이 사실 아닌 허위에 기반한 게 법적 확정된 것"이라며 "그럼에도 이같은 당시 보도가 여전히 남아 국민 눈·귀를 어지럽히고 있는데, 제대로 된 정정 보도를 내보낸 언론은 거의 없는 실정"이라고 했다.
또 "조폭 연루설·20억 원 수수설이 허위로 드러남에 따라 추후 보도를 게재해 주길 바란다"며 "당시 보도로 인한 국민 오해를 해소할 수 있도록 충실한 내용·명예훼손이 회복될 수 있도록 보도해 달라"고 했다.
이어 "이번 요청이 언론 보도가 보다 객관적·공정해지는 국민 알권리를 더 충실하게 하는 계기가 되길 바란다"며 "각 언론사의 책임 있는 판단·신속 조치를 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.
