더불어민주당은 21일 대전에서 발생한 대형 화재 사고와 관련해 “모든 역량을 총동원해 사고 수습과 피해 최소화에 총력을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
민주당은 이날 공보국 명의의 입장문을 통해 “안타까운 사고로 소중한 생명을 잃은 분들께 깊은 애도를 표하며, 유가족 여러분께 위로의 말씀을 드린다”고 전하며 “부상자들의 빠른 쾌유와 아직 연락이 닿지 않은 분들의 무사 귀환을 기원한다”고 밝혔다.
당은 “정부가 대통령 지시에 따라 가용한 모든 인력과 장비를 투입해 인명 구조와 화재 진압에 총력을 기울이고 있다”며 “우리 당 역시 정부와 긴밀히 협력해 사고 수습과 피해 최소화에 전력을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
민주당은 이날 정청래 대표를 비롯한 지도부가 현장을 직접 찾아 상황을 점검했다고 전하며, “재난안전대책위를 즉시 가동해 매뉴얼에 따라 대응 중”이라고 밝혔다.
이어 “조승래 사무총장을 총괄지원팀장으로, 박정현 대전시당위원장을 현장지원팀장으로 임명했으며, 대전시당이 당원들과 함께 현장 봉사 및 유가족 지원에 나서고 있다”고 설명했다.
당은 또한 “사고 수습에 그치지 않고 국회 차원에서 철저한 원인 규명에 나서겠다”며 “안전 대책과 제도 개선을 통해 재발 방지에 만전을 기하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
민주당은 “국민의 생명과 안전을 지키는 막중한 책임을 끝까지 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 이날 오전 8시경 정청래 대표와 조승래 사무총장 등 민주당 지도부가 화재현장을 찾아 사고수습에 만전을 기해줄 것을 소방당국에 당부했다.
