이재명 대통령이 23일 "자주 국방은 가장 중요한 통합 방위 핵심"이라며 "국방은 누구에게도 맡겨선 안 될 스스로 완벽히 최종 책임져야 할 핵심"이라고 말했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 청와대에서 열린 제59차 중앙통합방위회의 모두 발언에서 "국가 안보서 가장 중요 부분은 결국 국민 통합 방위 능력이라 할 수 있다"며 "그 중 가장 중요한 건 역시 국방이라 생각한다"며 이같이 말했다.
중앙통합방위회의는 매년 국가 방위 요소별 주요 직위자들이 통합방위 태세·발전 방안을 논의하는 자리로 이번 회의는 정부 출범 후 처음 열렸다.
