경기북부보훈지청이 제11회 ‘서해수호의 날’을 맞아 서해수호 55용사의 숭고한 희생을 기리고, 미래세대인 청소년들의 안보 의식을 높이기 위한 다양한 보훈 프로그램을 추진하고 있다.
‘서해수호의 날’은 제2연평해전과 천안함 피격, 연평도 포격전 등 서해를 지키다 산화한 장병들을 추모하고, 국토 수호의 의지를 되새기기 위해 제정된 정부 기념일이다.

이날 강연에는 제2연평해전의 영웅으로 알려진 이희완 전 국가보훈부 차관이 강연자로 나서 당시의 긴박했던 전투 상황과 전우애를 생생하게 전달했다.
