위원회는 미국 교육평가원(ETS)이 주관하는 공인 영어능력 평가인 ‘주니어 토플(TOEFL)’ 시험을 시행한다고 밝혔다. 해당 시험은 글로벌 기준에 기반한 영어 실력 진단이 가능하다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
응시 대상은 관내 초등학교 1학년부터 고등학교 2학년까지로, 희망 학생은 누구나 참여할 수 있으며 응시료는 전액 지원된다.
시험은 학생의 연령과 수준을 고려해 3단계로 운영된다. 초등 저학년은 ‘TOEFL Primary Step 1’, 초등 고학년 및 중학교 1학년은 ‘TOEFL Primary Step 2’, 중학교 2학년부터 고등학교 2학년은 ‘TOEFL Junior’를 각각 응시하게 된다.

접수는 3월 24일부터 30일까지 진행되며, 군위군청 홈페이지 ‘알립니다’ 내 접수폼(QR코드 및 링크) 또는 전화로 신청할 수 있다.
군위군교육발전위원회 관계자는 “학생들의 영어 학습 수준을 객관적으로 확인하고 향후 학습 방향 설정에 도움을 주기 위한 것”이라며 “앞으로도 지역 교육 여건 개선과 학습 지원을 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
군위군 관계자도 “학생 개개인의 수준에 맞는 교육 제공이 중요하다”며 “지역 학생들이 안정적인 교육 환경 속에서 성장할 수 있도록 지원을 이어가겠다”고 강조했다.
