홍천군은 임대형 스마트팜에 입주한 청년 농업인들이 완숙 토마토 마수걸이 출하를 성공적으로 시작했다고 밝혔다. 지난 1월 15일 정식(定植)에 들어간 지 약 두 달 만에 일궈낸 값진 성과로, 스마트농업 기술을 기반으로 한 청년 농업인들의 안정적인 영농 정착이 본궤도에 올랐다는 평가를 받는다.
올해 초 재배 환경은 그야말로 최악에 가까웠다. 정식 직후 삼한사온이 무색하게 영하 10도 이하의 맹추위가 길게 이어지며 시설재배 작물 생육에 치명적인 조건이 형성됐고, 엎친 데 덮친 격으로 국제 정세 불안에 따른 농자재 및 난방 유류비 폭등까지 겹쳐 농가 경영에 비상이 걸린 상태였다.
