부산비엔날레조직위원회(조직위원장 박형준 부산시장)는 2026부산비엔날레의 사전 프로그램으로 오는 4월 4일 토요일 도모헌에서 큐레토리얼 포럼 ‘행성적 시선, 다층의 지역’을 개최한다.
이번 행사는 전시 주제 《불협하는 합창(Dissident Chorus)》을 중심으로 다성적 관계와 협업의 가능성을 탐색하며, 전시에 앞서 큐레이터 간 담론과 실천의 장을 마련한다.
포럼은 글로벌 미술 현장에서 활동하는 큐레이터들이 한자리에 모여 전시 경험을 공유하고, 현대 큐레이션의 역할과 지역성과의 관계를 다층적 관점에서 논의하는 네트워크 플랫폼으로 기획됐다. 이번 행사를 통해 부산비엔날레가 제시하는 ‘불협’과 ‘공명’의 의미가 비엔날레를 넘어 지역 미술 생태계와 국제 담론으로 확장될 것으로 기대된다.
행사는 두 개의 세션으로 구성된다. 세션 1은 ‘합의되지 않은 불균형과 비동시성’을 주제로, 소리와 시간, 감각의 다양성을 통해 전시의 실행 가능성과 새로운 관계 맺음을 탐구한다.
세션 2에서는 ‘협업과 연대의 가능성’을 중심으로 국내외 비엔날레, 미술관, 대안공간의 협력 사례를 살피고, 지속 가능한 전시 생태계를 위한 제도 간 연대 방안을 논의한다. 포럼 마지막에는 모든 발표자가 참여하는 종합 토론과 청중 질의응답이 진행돼 현장 참여자들과의 열린 대화가 이어진다.
올해 2026부산비엔날레 공동 전시감독으로 참여하는 아말 칼라프(Amal Khalaf)와 에블린 사이먼스(Evelyn Simons)를 비롯해 독립 큐레이터 김성우, 미술사학자이자 큐레이터 임수영, 부산민주공원 학예 담당 이봉미, 부산현대미술관 학예연구사 최상호 등 다양한 배경을 가진 전문가들이 함께한다.
이준 부산비엔날레조직위원회 집행위원장은 “부산비엔날레는 이제 특정 지역을 대표하는 행사에 머물지 않고, 서로 다른 시간과 장소, 감각과 언어가 교차하는 복합적인 장으로 발전하고 있다”며 “이번 포럼이 ‘불협하는 합창’이 보여주는 다양성과 긴장 속에서 새로운 담론과 실천이 피어나는 출발점이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

Busan Biennale 2026 to Host Curatorial Forum “Planetary Gaze, Multi-layered Localities” Ahead of Main Exhibition
The Busan Biennale Organizing Committee (Chairperson: Park Heong-joon, Mayor of Busan) will hold a pre-event curatorial forum titled *“Planetary Gaze, Multi-layered Localities”* on April 4 at Domohun ahead of the 2026 Busan Biennale. The forum will explore the exhibition theme *“Dissident Chorus”* by engaging with ideas of multiplicity, resonance, and curatorial collaboration before the main exhibition opens.
Designed as a global network platform, the forum will bring together curators from Korea and abroad to share experiences, discuss the evolving role of contemporary curation, and reflect on relationships between local contexts and global artistic discourses. It aims to expand the meaning of “dissonance” and “chorus” beyond the exhibition to the wider cultural and institutional ecosystem.
The program will feature two main sessions. The first, focusing on “Unagreed Imbalances and Nonsynchronous Encounters,” will explore sound, temporality, and sensory diversity as frameworks for rethinking curatorial practice. The second session, themed “Possibilities of Collaboration and Solidarity,” will present examples from biennales, museums, and alternative art spaces, emphasizing sustainable cooperation models between institutions. The forum will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A, encouraging open dialogue and exchange.
Speakers include 2026 Busan Biennale co-artistic directors Amal Khalaf and Evelyn Simons, independent curator Kim Sung-woo, art historian and curator Lim Soo-young, Lee Bong-mi from the Busan Democracy Park, and Choi Sang-ho, curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan.
Executive Director Lee Joon noted, “The Busan Biennale has evolved beyond a local exhibition format into a complex space where different times, places, senses, and languages converge. Just as *Dissident Chorus* does not assume harmony, we hope this forum becomes a starting point for diverse voices to continue their practices and dialogues collectively.”
Participation is open through advance registration on the official Busan Biennale website or social media channels. Seats are limited, and early registration is recommended. All attendees will receive a printed booklet featuring key discussions and reference materials.
