<브레이크뉴스 홍천 = 김일웅 기자> 홍천군재향군인회가 제11회 서해수호의 날을 맞아 조국을 위해 산화한 55명의 호국영웅을 추모하고 지역 사회의 굳건한 안보 의식을 다지는 뜻깊은 자리를 마련했다.
홍천군재향군인회는 26일 오전 11시 홍천군종합사회복지관 강당에서 ‘제11회 서해수호의 날 기념식’을 엄숙한 분위기 속에 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 신영재 홍천군수를 비롯해 최정식 제11기동사단 부사단장, 홍성기 강원특별자치도의원, 이옥진 여성단체협의회장, 각 보훈 및 안보 단체장, 향군회원, 제13기계화보병여단 장병 등 약 200여 명이 대거 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
‘서해수호의 날’은 제2연평해전, 천안함 피격, 연평도 포격전 등 서해에서 발생한 북한의 도발을 잊지 않고, 국가의 부름에 응해 서해를 수호하다 희생된 55용사를 추모하기 위해 제정된 법정기념일이다. 정부는 매년 3월 넷째 주 금요일을 서해수호의 날로 지정해 그들의 고귀한 헌신을 기리고 있다.
이번 기념식은 서해 수호를 위해 목숨을 바친 전사자들의 숭고한 호국 정신을 기리고, 군민들의 국가 안보 중요성을 다시 한번 일깨우기 위해 철저한 준비 속에 기획됐다.
