시흥시, 경기도 ‘피지컬 AI 확산센터’ 유치

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시는 경기도가 주관한 피지컬 AI 확산센터 구축 사업 공모에서 최종 대상지로 선정됐다.

이번 선정은 시화국가산업단지와 시화MTV 내 중소 제조기업의 집적도와 비정형 위험 공정이 많은 현장 특성을 반영한 실증 중심의 확산 전략이 높은 평가를 받은 결과다. 시는 서울대학교 시흥캠퍼스, 한국공학대학교, 한국생산기술연구원 등 관내 11개 산학연관 기관과 협력 네트워크를 구축해 기술 개발부터 실증까지 이어지는 체계를 강점으로 제시했다.

피지컬 AI 확산센터는 정왕어울림센터 내 경기시흥 AI 혁신센터에 조성될 예정이다. 이곳에는 GPU 연산 인프라와 협동로봇, 자율이동로봇(AMR) 등 첨단 장비가 구축되어 제조 현장에서 즉시 활용 가능한 공정 테스트 환경을 지원한다.

이를 통해 지역 중소기업들은 대규모 투자 없이도 AI 기반의 공정 혁신을 지원받아 생산성을 높일 수 있게 된다.
