이재명 대통령이 27일 "급변하는 안보 환경에 대응하려면 자주 국방이 필수적"이라고 밝혔다
이 대통령은 이날 오후 용산 국방부에서 열린 전군 주요 지휘관 회의에서 "철통같은 한·미동맹이 한반도 평화·안정의 필수 요소인 건 맞으나 과도한 의존은 금물"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "전시작전통제권 회복은 조속 추진될 것"이라며 "한반도 방위에 군이 주도적 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 만반의 준비를 해줘야 되겠다"고 했다.
또 "대한민국 평화·번영을 위해 어떤 상황에서도 스스로 힘으로 영토·국민을 완벽하게 지켜내겠다는 책임·결의를 다져주기 바란다"며 "그런 마음가짐이야말로 전작권 회복을 앞당길 걸로 생각된다"고 했다.
이어 "글로벌 안보 환경은 근본적으로 변화하고 있으며 러·우크라 전쟁은 5년차에 접어들었고 중동 전쟁도 오늘로 28일째"라며 "북은 DMZ(비무장지대) 내 군사분계선 일대서 국경선화 작업을 시작하고 있다"고 했다.
더불어 "엄중한 안보 상황에서 군의 최우선 책임은 적의 어떤 도발·위협에도 대응할 수 있는 최상 군사 대비 태세를 갖추는 것"이라며 "특히 한·미동맹에 기반해 강력 연합 방위태세를 유지해 주고, 육·해·공군·해병대가 한마음으로 위기 상황을 헤쳐나가야 되겠다"고 했다.
