충청남도가 지역 대학생들의 참신한 아이디어를 빌려 아산시 신창면 일대의 도시 공간을 새롭게 재구성에 나섰다.
이를 위해 충남도는 지난 27일부터 이틀간 아산 온양온천역 아우름에서 ‘2026 크루즈 아키톤 해커톤’을 개최하고, 지역 건축학도들과 함께 ‘신창 국제문화타운’ 조성을 위한 릴레이 도시설계 회의를 진행했다.
이번 행사는 충남도가 지원하는 ‘건축 및 도시공간 지속가능발전 연구 개발지원’ 사업의 핵심 과정이다.
특히 지난 13일 발족한 지역대학연합 설계(RUCAS) 2026의 후속 프로그램으로서, 지역의 문제를 지역의 인재들이 직접 고민한다는 점에서 큰 의미를 갖는다.
현장에는 공주대, 남서울대, 순천향대 등 충남권 8개 대학의 건축 및 디자인 전공 학생 233명을 비롯해 지도교수와 충남건축사회 전문가들이 참여해 머리를 맞댔다.
회의의 중심 주제는 아산 신창면의 지역적 특색을 살린 ‘국제문화타운’의 혁신 설계였다. 학생들은 다문화 거주민이 많은 지역적 특성을 고려하여, 이들의 삶을 녹여낸 주거 및 상업지역 특화 방안을 모색했다.
또한 신창역세권의 효율적인 활용 방안과 글로컬 캠퍼스를 연계한 미래지향적 도시 설계 아이디어를 도출하는 데 주력했다.
학생들이 제안한 창의적인 아이디어는 단순한 구상에 그치지 않고 실제 정책으로 이어질 전망이다.
충남도는 올 상반기 중 이를 대학별 연합 설계를 통해 ‘3차원 도시공간 설계’로 구체화하고, 하반기에는 ‘3D 메타버스 플랫폼’에 탑재할 계획으로, 이렇게 축적된 데이터는 향후 충남도의 도시재생 전략과 건축 정책 수립을 위한 귀중한 기초자료로 활용된다고 밝혓다.

The province stated that the data accumulated in this way will serve as valuable foundational data for establishing future urban regeneration strategies and architectural policies.
