성광진 후보, 76.8% 압도적 지지로 단일화 성공
성광진 "청렴도 최하위 오명 벗고 교육 격차 해소할 것"
대전 지역 민주진보 진영의 교육감 후보 단일화 결과, 성광진 예비후보가 최종 후보로 선출됐다.
'미래교육을 위한 대전시민교육감후보 단일화 시민회의(이하 시민회의)'는 30일 오후 대전시교육청 정문에서 기자회견을 열고 경선 결과를 공식 발표했다.
시민회의 김민수 선거관리위원장은 이날 회견에서 "시민참여단 투표와 여론조사 결과를 각각 50%씩 반영한 결과, 성광진 후보가 76.8%의 득표율을 기록해 최종 후보로 확정됐다"고 밝혔다. 함께 경선을 치른 강재구 후보는 23.2%를 얻었다.
이번 단일화 과정은 지난 1월 창립총회 이후 약 3개월간 70여 개 시민사회단체의 참여 속에 진행됐다.
김 위원장은 "공정하고 투명한 절차를 통해 도출된 결과인 만큼, 144만 대전 시민들에게 성광진 후보를 민주·진보·시민 교육감 후보로 당당히 제안한다"고 강조했다.
경선에 참여했던 강재구 예비후보는 결과 발표 직후 깨끗한 승복의 뜻을 전했다. 강 후보는 "경선 결과를 겸허히 받아들이며, 이번 선거에서 반드시 진보 교육감이 당선될 수 있도록 힘을 보태겠다"고 말하며 성 후보와 손을 맞잡아 결속력을 과시했다.

단일 후보로 추대된 성광진 예비후보는 현 대전 교육의 문제점을 강도 높게 비판하며 변화를 약속했다.
성 후보는 "지난 6년간 대전 교육은 청렴도 최하위라는 불명예를 안았고 교육 혁신은 멈춰버렸다"며 "낡은 구조를 타파하고 새로운 길을 여는 교육감이 되겠다"는 포부를 밝혔다.
그는 주요 공약으로 공교육 정상화 및 교육 격차 해소 ,보편적 교육복지 구현 및 재정 지원 체계 구축 ,지역 균형 발전을 위한 평등한 학군 조정 등을 제시했다.
특히 기초학력 보장을 위해 '기초학력 전담 전문교사'를 양성해 학교 현장에 배치하겠다는 구체적인 대안을 내놓으며 정책 행보를 본격화했다.
한편 민주진영 단일 후보로 선출된 성광진 예비후보는 민주 진영 지지를 얻으면서 대전교육청 입성을 위한 큰 산을 넘었다는 평가를 받고 있다.
