충청남도가 대규모 인공지능(AI) 데이터센터와 반도체·이차전지 등 미래 첨단 산업 분야 기업들을 잇달아 유치하며 대한민국 'AI 전환'의 핵심 거점으로 도약하기 위한 발판을 마련했다.
충남는 30일 도청 대회의실에서 아산·논산·예산 등 3개 시군 시장·군수, 그리고 디앤알파트너스를 포함한 6개 기업 대표와 함께 총 2조 5,547억 원 규모의 투자협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약에 따라 선정된 기업들은 오는 2030년까지 각 지역 산업단지 내 총 26만 3,854㎡ 부지에 생산 시설을 신설하거나 수도권에서 이전하게 되며, 이를 통해 약 1,065명의 신규 일자리가 창출될 전망이다.
가장 눈에 띄는 대목은 아산 지역에 들어설 대규모 AI 데이터센터다.
디앤알파트너스와 말타니는 아산 음봉 일원에 각각 100㎿와 80㎿ 규모의 데이터센터를 구축하기 위해 총 2조 3,500억 원을 투입한다. 이는 충남이 단순한 제조 거점을 넘어 AI 시대를 뒷받침하는 데이터 고속도로의 중심지로 거듭나는 계기가 될 것으로 보인다.
미래 모빌리티와 에너지 산업의 핵심 기업들도 충남에 둥지를 튼다.
엑스알비는 아산 배방 스마트복합그린산단에 1,000억 원을 투자해 이차전지 및 바나듐 배터리 생산 시설을 이전하며, 소디스는 AI 자율주행버스 제조 시설을 같은 산단 내 구축하기로 했다.
이 외에도 논산에는 팜인더의 저온 진공 식품 가공 시설이, 예산에는 MS머트리얼즈의 반도체 공정 특수가스 제조 공장이 각각 들어설 예정이다.
김태흠 지사는 이번 투자가 충남의 산업 구조를 첨단화하고 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣는 소중한 마중물이 될 것이라고 평가했다.
