경주시는 ‘제33회 경주벚꽃마라톤대회’를 오는 4월 4일 오전 8시 보덕동행정복지센터 앞 도로를 출발점으로 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 경주시와 경주시체육회가 공동 주최·주관하며, 보문호수와 도심 벚꽃길을 따라 ▲하프코스 ▲10km ▲5km 등 3개 종목으로 운영된다.
올해 대회에는 국내외 마라톤 동호인 약 1만 5,000명이 참가할 예정으로, 이 중 25개국 600여 명의 외국인이 포함돼 국제대회로서의 위상을 이어갈 전망이다.
특히 대회 당일 오전 7시 40분에는 대한민국 공군 특수비행팀 ‘블랙이글스’의 에어쇼가 펼쳐질 예정이어서 눈길을 끈다. 평소 쉽게 접하기 어려운 공연으로, 만개한 벚꽃과 어우러진 이색 볼거리로 기대를 모은다. 다만 기상 상황 등에 따라 공연이 취소될 수 있다.
