만 9~24세 지역 청소년으로 구성… 정책 제안·모니터링 등 실질적 참여

대전 유성구가 지역 청소년들이 직접 정책을 발굴하고 목소리를 내는 ‘제9기 유성구 청소년참여위원회’의 공식 출범을 알렸다.
유성구는 31일 구청 대회의실에서 위촉식을 열고, 공개 모집과 추천을 통해 선발된 지역 청소년 25명에게 위촉장을 수여했다. 이번에 위촉된 위원들은 유성구에 거주하거나 지역 학교에 재학 중인 만 9세부터 24세까지의 다양한 연령대로 구성되어 청소년들의 폭넓은 의사를 대변하게 된다.
제9기 청소년참여위원회는 올 연말까지 약 9개월간 유성구 청소년 정책의 핵심 파트너로 활동한다. 이들은 매월 정기 회의를 열어 청소년 권익 증진을 위한 정책 제안서를 직접 작성하고, 현재 시행 중인 정책들이 현장에서 어떻게 작동하는지 모니터링하는 역할을 수행한다.
또한, 청소년들이 피부로 느끼는 사회적 의제를 발굴해 구정에 제안하는 것은 물론, 청소년 참여 활성화를 위한 각종 캠페인 등 대외 활동에도 적극적으로 나설 계획이다.
정용래 유성구청장은 이날 위촉식에서 청소년들의 주도적인 참여를 독려하며 적극적인 지원을 약속했다.
정 구청장은 “청소년참여위원회는 청소년들이 단순한 정책 수혜자를 넘어 지역 사회의 당당한 주체로서 목소리를 낼 수 있는 소중한 소통의 장”이라며 “위원들이 제안하는 참신하고 다양한 의견들이 유성구의 실제 정책으로 결실을 볼 수 있도록 아낌없이 뒷받침하겠다”고 밝혔다.
유성구 청소년참여위원회는 그동안 청소년 눈높이에 맞춘 공간 조성과 프로그램 제안 등 실효성 있는 활동을 이어오며 자치구 차원의 대표적인 청소년 거버넌스 모델로 자리 잡고 있다.
이번 9기 위원회의 활동이 ‘청소년이 행복한 유성’을 만드는 데 어떤 변화를 가져올지 지역사회의 기대가 모이고 있다.
