조선시대의 삶과 숨결을 고스란히 간직한 아산 외암마을이 새로운 전통 계승의 무대를 연다. 아산시는 ‘2025~2026 아산 방문의 해’를 맞아 외암마을을 중심으로 전통문화 체험과 전승 프로그램을 확대하며, ‘살아있는 민속마을’의 가치를 한층 높여간다고 1일 밝혔다.
국가민속문화유산 제236호로 지정된 외암마을은 충청도 특유의 반가와 초가가 어우러진 집성촌으로, 오랜 세월 주민들의 손으로 지붕을 엮고 돌담을 고쳐가며 생활해 온 살아있는 문화유산이다.
아산시는 이런 마을의 정체성을 바탕으로 방문객이 단순히 보는 관광을 넘어, 전통을 체험하고 경험하는 참여형 프로그램을 강화한다는 방침이다.
먼저 외암마을과 저잣거리 일대에서는 다듬이 공연, 다도 체험, 연엽주 빚기, 옹기 제작 등 전통 생활문화를 직접 체험할 수 있는 프로그램이 운영된다. 뻥튀기, 전통 혼례, 사물놀이, 퓨전국악 공연 등 상설행사도 마련돼 가족 단위 관광객에게 색다른 볼거리와 즐길 거리를 제공할 예정이다.
아산시는 여기에 더해 지역 고유의 전통 건축기술을 계승하기 위한 교육프로그램도 새롭게 시작한다. ‘2026년 아산 외암마을 역사문화 전수관 교육 프로그램’이 그것이다.
상반기에는 초가이엉잇기, 하반기에는 돌담쌓기 전승 과정이 개설되며, 외암마을 내 역사문화 전수관에서 진행된다. 시민 10명을 모집해 총 40회차 교육을 제공하며, 수료 시에는 외암마을 정비활동이나 축제 체험 프로그램 참여 기회가 주어진다.
