또한 "전력이 약하다면 전술을 바꿔야 한다"면서 "같은 선수풀 안에서도 방식을 바꿀 필요가 있다"고 말했다. 이는 현재 선거 구도에서 전략 수정을 피할 수 없다는 인식으로 해석된다.
최 의원은 "이번 선거는 지키는 싸움이 아니라, 골을 넣어야 이기는 선거"라며 "감독은 대구 시민"이라고 강조했다. 단순 수성보다 성과 중심의 공격적 선거를 치르겠다는 의지를 내비쳤다.
아울러 그는 "한철 용병이냐, 대구를 책임질 프랜차이즈냐의 선택"이라며 장기적 책임을 강조했고, "지난 30년 대구 경제 침체의 부채에서 자유로운 후보"라는 점을 내세웠다.
최 의원은 글 말미에 무하마드 알리의 사례를 언급하며 "거물의 이름값을 이기는 것은 더 큰 경력이 아니라 완전히 다른 방식"이라고 밝혔다. 그는 "제가 알리가 되겠다. 나비처럼 날아 벌처럼 쏘겠다"고 포부를 덧붙였다.
