충남 천안시가 인공지능(AI)을 중심으로 한 지역 혁신과 미래 모빌리티 산업 생태계 구축에 본격적으로 나섰다.
1일 천안시청 제1소회의실에서 열린 협약식에서는 천안시와 국립공주대학교 천안공과대학, 한국과학기술원(KAIST) 공과대학이 ‘AI 지식 생태계 구축과 미래 모빌리티 실현을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다.
이날 자리에는 김석필 천안시장 권한대행을 비롯해 이동주 공주대 공과대학장, 이재우 KAIST 공과대학장이 참석해 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이번 협약을 통해 세 기관은 AI 기술 기반의 지역 혁신과 산학연 협력 체계를 강화하고, 미래 모빌리티 산업의 실증과 확산을 공동으로 추진하기로 뜻을 모았다. 특히 인공지능 연구개발, 인력 양성, 기술 사업화 등 AI 전주기에 걸친 협력 모델을 구축한다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
협력의 주요 내용은 △AI 지식 생태계 및 미래 모빌리티 공동 연구개발 △대학과 지방정부 간 연계형 협력 연구 및 실증 △AI 융합인재 양성을 위한 교육과정 개발 및 인력 교류 △산학연 연계를 통한 기술 실증·창업 지원 등을 포함한다.
천안시는 이러한 협력을 뒷받침하기 위해 실증 환경과 행정적·제도적 기반을 제공할 계획이다. 또한 국가·지역 단위 연구개발 과제에 공동 참여해, 천안을 중심으로 한 AI 혁신 모델을 전국으로 확산시키겠다는 목표도 세웠다.

Cheonan City, South Chungcheong Province, has embarked on a full-scale initiative to build a future mobility industry ecosystem and promote regional innovation centered on artificial intelligence (AI).
At a signing ceremony held on the 1st in the first conference room of Cheonan City Hall, Cheonan City, the Cheonan College of Engineering at Kongju National University, and the College of Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the "Establishment of an AI Knowledge Ecosystem and the Realization of Future Mobility."
The event was attended by Kim Seok-pil, Acting Mayor of Cheonan, Lee Dong-ju, Dean of the College of Engineering at Kongju National University, and Lee Jae-woo, Dean of the College of Engineering at KAIST, who discussed cooperation plans.
Through this agreement, the three institutions agreed to strengthen regional innovation based on AI technology and the industry-academia-research collaboration system, while jointly promoting the demonstration and expansion of the future mobility industry.
