대전광역시교육청이 획일적인 학교 공간을 탈피해 학생들의 꿈을 담은 미래형 학습 공간으로 탈바꿈시키는 ‘2026년 학교공간혁신 사업’의 첫 삽을 떴다. 단순히 낡은 시설을 보수하는 차원을 넘어, 교육 공동체가 직접 설계에 참여해 학교의 철학을 공간에 녹여내는 혁신적 시도다.
시교육청은 지난 1일 동대전초등학교에서 열린 ‘사용자 참여 설계 1차 워크숍’을 기점으로 오는 10일까지 관내 대상 학교들을 순차적으로 방문하며 본격적인 사업 추진에 나선다고 밝혔다.
학교공간혁신 브랜드인 ‘꿈키움터’는 공급자 중심의 경직된 교실 환경에서 벗어나, 사용자인 학생과 교직원이 설계 과정에 주도적으로 참여하는 사업이다. 학습과 삶이 하나로 연결되는 유연한 공간 재구조화를 목표로 하며, 실제 학교 현장의 사업 만족도가 91%를 상회할 만큼 큰 호응을 얻고 있다.

백승영 시교육청 시설과장은 “학교공간혁신은 단순한 시설 개선이 아니라 학교의 교육 철학과 미래 교육의 지향점을 공간이라는 그릇에 담아내는 과정”이라며, “현장에서 나온 소중한 의견들이 실제 건축 청사진으로 실현될 수 있도록 행정적·기술적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
