(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부평구가 지난 1일부터 부평 테마의거리 일대를 ‘킥보드 없는 거리’로 운영하고 있다고 밝혔다.
부평구에 따르면, 이에 따라 이 지역은 매일 12시부터 23시까지 전동킥보드를 포함한 개인형 이동장치의 주행이 전면 금지된다.
부평구는 ‘킥보드 없는 거리’를 오는 12월 말까지 집중 홍보·계도 기간으로 운영할 계획이다.
이 기간 동안 관계기관과 협력해 지속적인 홍보와 계도를 실시함으로써 정책 인지도를 높이고, 보행자 중심의 안전한 교통 환경을 조성해 나갈 방침이다.
앞서 부평구는 지난해 12월, 보행자 충돌 위험을 줄이기 위해 부평 테마의 거리 및 시장로 일부 구간을 ‘개인형 이동장치 통행금지 구간(킥보드 없는 거리)’으로 지정한 바 있다.
이와 관련, 구는 지난 1일 부평 테마의거리 일대에서 ‘킥보드 없는 거리’ 시행을 알리는 교통안전 합동 캠페인을 실시했다.
이날 현장에는 부평구를 비롯해 삼산경찰서, 한국도로교통공단, 삼산모범운전자회, 녹색어머니연합회 등 관계기관이 참여해 구민에게 통행금지 시간과 안전수칙을 안내하는 등 홍보 활동을 펼쳤다.
부평구 관계자는 “다양한 매체를 활용한 홍보를 통해 구민들이 정책 취지를 충분히 이해할 수 있도록 하겠다”며 “보행자 중심의 안전한 교통문화 정착을 위해 구민 여러분의 적극적인 협조를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
