이번 활동은 경제적 어려움과 건강 문제 등으로 스스로 주거환경 개선이 어려운 가구의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 마련됐다.
현장에는 양 단체 회원 20여 명이 참여해 노후된 벽지와 장판을 교체하고, 안전에 취약한 전기시설을 정비하는 등 실질적인 주거환경 개선에 구슬땀을 흘렸다.
이번 집수리 봉사를 통해 해당 가구는 낡고 불편했던 주거환경에서 벗어나 보다 안정적인 생활 기반을 마련하게 됐다.
지준길 단양읍장은 “이번 집수리 봉사활동은 단순한 주거환경 개선을 넘어 어려운 이웃의 일상에 희망을 전하는 소중한 시간이었다”며 “바쁜 일정 속에서도 기꺼이 참여해 따뜻한 손길을 전해주신 직장새마을운동협의회와 적십자봉사회 회원들께 깊이 감사드린다”고 말했다.
