【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=지역 숙련기술인들의 축제인 ‘2026년도 대구광역시 기능경기대회’가 오는 4월 6일부터 10일까지 5일간 열린다.

대구광역시가 주최하고 대구광역시 기능경기위원회(한국산업인력공단 대구지역본부)가 주관하는 이번 대회는 경북기계공업고등학교 등 9개 경기장에서 진행된다. 올해는 45개 직종에 271명의 선수가 출전해 그동안 갈고닦은 기술을 겨룰 예정이다.
대구시 기능경기대회는 우수 숙련기술인을 발굴·육성하고 기술인의 사기를 높이기 위해 매년 개최되는 행사로, 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화에 기여하고 있다.
특히 올해는 메카트로닉스, 산업용 로봇, 모바일로보틱스 등 대구시가 중점 육성 중인 미래 산업 분야 직종이 포함돼 실무형 기술 인재 양성의 장이 될 것으로 기대된다.
대회 입상자에게는 오는 8월 인천에서 열리는 ‘제61회 전국기능경기대회’에 대구시 대표로 참가할 수 있는 자격이 주어지며, 국가기술자격법에 따라 기능사 시험 면제 또는 산업기사 필기시험 응시 자격 등 혜택도 제공된다.
앞서 대구시는 지난해 광주에서 열린 ‘제60회 전국기능경기대회’에서 종합 4위를 기록하는 성과를 거뒀다. 당시 대구 선수단은 금메달 8개, 은메달 8개, 동메달 11개, 우수상 11개를 획득했으며, 경북기계공업고등학교는 전국 2위 학교에 수여되는 ‘은탑’을 수상했다.
박기환 대구시 경제국장은 “이번 대회는 숙련기술인들이 역량을 발휘하는 동시에 미래 산업을 이끌 인재를 발굴하는 중요한 자리”라며 “안전하고 공정한 대회 운영에 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.

Winners of the competition will be granted the right to represent Daegu City at the "61st National Skills Competition" to be held in Incheon this coming August. Previously, Daegu City achieved a remarkable result at the "60th National Skills Competition" held in Gwangju last year, securing 4th place overall.
