대전의 대표적 휴식처인 계족산 자락이 시민들의 손길로 더욱 푸르게 물들었다.
대전시는 2일 제81회 식목일을 기념해 장동문화공원 일원에서 대규모 나무심기 행사를 열고 미래 세대를 위한 녹색 자산 조성에 나섰다.
이날 행사에는 이장우 대전시장을 포함해 각계각층의 시민과 사회단체 관계자 등 약 1500명이 참여했다. 참가자들은 홍가시나무와 산수유 등 지역 환경에 적합한 11개 수종, 총 5000여 그루의 나무를 정성껏 심으며 구슬땀을 흘렸다.
특히 이번 행사는 단순한 식재에 그치지 않고 일상 속 녹색 문화 확산을 위한 이벤트가 병행되어 눈길을 끌었다.
대전시는 현장을 찾은 시민들에게 산세베리아 등 공기정화 능력이 탁월한 반려식물 8종, 7000여 본을 무상으로 증정했다. 시민들은 가정에서도 탄소중립을 실천할 수 있다는 점에 큰 만족감을 보이며 뜨거운 호응을 보냈다.
