경주시는 2일 오전 11시 토함산에서 제64회 경북도민체육대회 성화를 채화하고, 개최지인 안동시와 예천군으로 봉송했다고 밝혔다.
이날 성화 채화에 앞서 고유제가 열렸다. 초헌관은 최혁준 경주시장 권한대행, 아헌관은 임활, 종헌관은 조석현과 신용승이 맡아 도민 화합과 번영, 대회 성공 개최를 기원했다.
채화된 성화는 여준기를 포함한 10명의 주자가 석굴암 통일대종 종각에서 주차장 매표소까지 봉송한 뒤 차량으로 안동까지 이송됐다.
성화는 안동 임청각과 예천 개심사지 오층석탑에서 합화돼, 오는 3일 경북도청 새마을광장에서 열리는 개회식에서 성화대에 점화된다. 성화는 대회 기간 경북도민체육대회의 상징으로 타오를 예정이다.
한편 제64회 경북도민체육대회는 오는 3일부터 6일까지 나흘간 안동시와 예천군 일원에서 ‘함께여는 화합체전 미래여는 경북도민’을 슬로건으로 열린다.
경주시는 30개 종목에 905명의 선수단이 참가해 시부 종합 4위를 목표로 선의의 경쟁을 펼칠 계획이다.
최혁준 권한대행은 “토함산에서 채화된 성화가 도민 화합의 상징으로 이어지길 바란다”며 “경주 선수단도 끝까지 최선을 다해 좋은 성과를 거두길 기대한다”고 말했다.

The torch will be combined at Imcheonggak in Andong and the Five-story Stone Pagoda at the Gaeimsa Temple Site in Yecheon, and will be lit on the torch stand at the opening ceremony to be held at the Saemaul Plaza of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office on the 3rd. The torch is scheduled to burn as a symbol of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival during the competition.
Meanwhile, the 64th Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival will be held for four days from the 3rd to the 6th in Andong City and Yecheon County under the slogan "A Festival of Harmony Opened Together, Gyeongbuk Residents Opening the Future."
Gyeongju City plans to engage in friendly competition with a delegation of 905 athletes participating in 30 sports, aiming for fourth place overall in the city division.
Acting Governor Choi Hyeok-jun stated, "I hope the torch lit at Mt. Toham will serve as a symbol of harmony for the residents," adding, "I look forward to the Gyeongju delegation doing their best until the end to achieve good results."
