이재명 대통령이 6일 민간인 무인기 사건 관련해 "비록 우리 정부 의도는 아니나 일부 무책임하고 무모한 행동으로 불필요한 군사적 긴장이 유발된 것에 북측에 유감 뜻을 표한다"고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오전 청와대 본관에서 열린 제14회 국무회의 겸 제4차 비상경제점검회의에서 "이번 정부 들어 있을 수 없는 민간인 무인기 사건이 발생했다"며 "국정원 직원·현역 군인이 연루됐다는 사실이 수사 결과 확인됐다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "대한민국 헌법·법률은 개인들 사전 행위·사적 북측에 도발하는 행위를 금지하고 있다"며 "국가전략상 필요에 따라 그런 일이 생기는 것도 극도로 신중해야 되는데 개인적으로 이런 대북 도발 행위를 했다는 사실이 매우 안타깝다"고 했다.
또 "과연 누구에 도움 될 건지 잘 생각해봐야 되겠다"며 "이번 사건으로 누구보다 접경지역 주민 여러분들 우려가 컸을 건데 깊은 위로 말씀을 드린다"고 했다.
이어 "관계부처는 유사사례가 재발 않도록 즉각 제도 개선·집행 가능 조치를 신속히 취해 달라"며 "세계 각국 분쟁으로 공동 규칙·호혜 기반 국제질서가 크게 흔들리고 있는데 한반도 평화·안정이 뭣보다 중요하며 책임져야 할 주체는 바로 우리임을 명확히 인지해야 된다"고 했다.

이 대통령은 "IMF 외환위기를 IT 강국 도약 계기로 삼았던 것처럼 이번 중동발 위기를 재생에너지 강국으로 나아가는 기회로 만들어야 되겠다"며 "관계 부처는 에너지 수급 다변화·재생에너지 중심 에너지 대전환에도 속도를 내야 하겠다"고 했다.
또 "(2026년도 1차) 추경 심사도 마찬가지로 처리기간을 줄이는 것만큼 중요한 게 실제 집행"이라며 "(국회) 통과 즉시 최단 기간 예산 집행이 효율적으로 이뤄질 수 있게 지금부터라도 사전 집행에 만전을 기해주길 바란다"고 주문했다.
이어 “현행 헌법이 만들어진 지 40년 가까이 지나면서 변화된 사회상을 제대로 반영한 개헌 필요성에 모든 국민들이 공감하고 있다”고 주장하며 "“국민적 공감대가 충분히 이뤄진 구체적 사안들부터 부분·단계적 개헌 추진이 순리며 가능한 수준이라도 개헌 물꼬를 틀 수 있도록 초당적 협조가 필요하다”고 했다.
