【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군이 봄철 산불 조심 기간을 맞아 산불 현장 대응 인력의 전문성을 강화하고 체계적인 방재 체계를 구축하기 위해 나섰다.
군은 7일 농업기술센터 내 음성명작관에서 공무원진화대원 170여 명을 대상으로 ‘2026년 산불대응 역량강화 교육’을 실시했다.
이번 교육은 최근 기후 변화로 인한 건조 일수가 증가하고 강풍이 잦아지면서, 산불이 고온·강풍 조건에서 급격히 확산되는 사례가 빈번해짐에 따라 마련됐다.
특히 산불 발생 시 현장에 투입되는 공무원진화대가 실전 경험 부족으로 대응에 어려움을 겪는 점을 개선하고, ‘산림재난방지법’에 근거해 현장 대응 인력의 안전과 전문성을 확보하는 데 중점을 뒀다.
교육은 한국산불방지기술협회 소속 이성기, 장경환 강사 등 전문가를 초빙해 이론 3시간과 실습 1시간 등 총 4시간 과정으로 진행됐다.
주요 교육 내용은 △산불의 원리 및 연소 요인 이해 △지형과 기상에 따른 확산 메커니즘 분석 △현장 상황별 대피 기준 및 행동 요령 △초기 진화 기법 및 진화 장비 사용법 등으로 구성돼 대원들이 실무 능력을 직접 습득할 수 있도록 했다.
군은 교육의 효율성을 높이기 위해 교육 인원을 오전과 오후 각 85명씩 나눠 운영했으며, 단순 이론 전달을 넘어 장비 사용법과 안전 수칙 등 현장에서 즉각 적용이 가능한 실습을 병행했다.
이는 과거 타 지역에서 전문성 부족과 안전 장비 미비로 발생했던 공무원 순직 사고 등의 재발을 막고, 대원들의 현장 상황판단 능력을 제고하기 위한 조치이다.
군 관계자는 “기후 변화로 인해 산불의 규모가 커지고 확산 속도가 빨라지는 만큼 공무원진화대의 실전 대응 역량이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “이번 교육을 통해 군민의 생명과 소중한 산림 자원을 보호할 수 있도록 신속하고 체계적인 대응 태세를 유지해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 군은 현재 5월 15일까지를 봄철 산불 조심 기간으로 정하고 산불방지대책본부를 운영 중이다. 특히 산불전문예방진화대와 산불감시원을 취약 지역에 전담 배치하고, ‘산불드론 감시원’ 채용을 통해 6대의 드론을 활용한 실시간 감시와 예방 방송을 강화하는 등 입체적인 감시 체계를 가동하고 있다.
