[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 7일 오전 시청 대강당에서 세계보건의 날을 맞아 제54회 보건의 날 기념식을 열었다.
이번 행사는 ‘건강이 기본이 되는 사회, 모두가 누리는 대한민국’을 주제로 진행됐으며, 박형준 시장을 비롯해 부산광역시병원회장, 보건의료 단체 임직원, 공무원, 시민 등 500여 명이 참석했다.
세계보건의 날은 세계보건기구(WHO)의 창립기념일을 기념해 제정된 날로, 우리나라는 1973년부터 매년 4월 7일을 보건의 날로 지정해 기념하고 있다. 이날 부산 기념식은 유공자 시상과 박 시장의 기념사, 축하공연 등의 순서로 진행됐다.
올해 행사에서는 시민건강 증진과 지역 보건의료 발전에 공헌한 유공자 38명(보건의료인 27명, 공무원 11명)에게 부산시장 표창이 수여됐다. 수상자들은 각자의 현장에서 시민의 생명과 건강을 지키며 지역사회 의료 환경 개선에 헌신해 온 공로를 인정받았다.
부산시는 급속한 고령화와 만성질환 증가, 감염병 대응 등 변화하는 보건의료 환경 속에서 지역 중심 건강관리 체계를 강화하고 있다. 예방, 치료, 돌봄이 유기적으로 연계될 수 있도록 정책을 추진하며, 시민이 필요한 의료 서비스를 적시에 이용할 수 있도록 접근성을 높이는 노력을 이어가고 있다.

박형준 시장은 “부산의 보건 현장을 지켜주고 있는 보건의료인들의 헌신에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “모두가 안심할 수 있는 건강도시 부산을 만들기 위해 공공 보건의료의 책임을 강화하고, 보건의료 사각지대가 없도록 세심하게 살피겠다”고 말했다.
Busan Hosts 54th Health Day Ceremony; Mayor Park Hyung-joon Vows “To Build a Healthy City”
The city of Busan held the 54th Health Day ceremony on April 7 at City Hall’s main auditorium to mark World Health Day. The event, themed “A Society Where Health Comes First, a Korea Shared by All,” gathered about 500 attendees, including Mayor Park Hyung-joon, the Busan Hospital Association president, public health officials, civil servants, and citizens.
World Health Day was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to commemorate its founding in 1948. In Korea, the occasion has been observed annually on April 7 since 1973. The Busan ceremony included commendations for honorees, an address by Mayor Park, and a celebratory performance by the Busan Civic Chorale.
A total of 38 individuals—27 health professionals and 11 public officials—received commendations from the mayor for their contributions to public health and the advancement of local healthcare services. The awardees were recognized for their dedication to protecting citizens’ lives and health in their respective fields.
In response to emerging health challenges such as aging, chronic diseases, and infectious outbreaks, the city is pushing for a community-based health management system that connects prevention, treatment, and care. Busan continues to improve its healthcare infrastructure to ensure citizens have timely access to essential medical services.
Mayor Park expressed his gratitude to the city’s medical workers, saying, “I deeply appreciate the dedication of healthcare professionals who safeguard the health and lives of Busan’s citizens. We will strengthen the city’s public healthcare responsibilities and carefully ensure that no one is left behind in access to medical services.”
