【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구광역시교육청이 학교도서관을 학생 중심의 학습 공간으로 새롭게 바꾼다. 단순히 책을 읽는 곳을 넘어, 교육과정과 연계된 ‘배움터’ 역할을 강화하겠다는 취지다.
시교육청은 8일, 2026년부터 사서교사와 사서가 함께하는 12개 전문학습공동체 팀을 꾸려 운영한다고 밝혔다.
각 팀 대표자 협의회가 4월 1일 첫 모임을 시작으로 10월까지 매달 열리며, 현장에서는 독서코칭, 프로그램 개발, IB 교육과정 연계, 공간 혁신, 교과 협력 수업 모델 연구 등 다양한 활동이 펼쳐진다.
또한 자료 제작과 전문가 특강, 선진 도서관 사례 벤치마킹 등도 병행된다. 11월에는 성과공유회를 열어 우수 사례를 확산할 계획이다.
시교육청은 이번 사업을 통해 학교도서관이 교육과정의 핵심 자원으로 자리 잡고, 학생들의 읽기 능력 향상에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
강은희 교육감은 “현장 전문가들의 공동 연구와 실천이 학교도서관의 역할을 한층 강화하고, ‘책 읽는 학교’ 문화를 넓히는 밑거름이 될 것”이라며 “학생들의 삶에 긍정적인 변화를 이끄는 교육 환경을 만들겠다”고 말했다.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education is transforming school libraries into student-centered learning spaces. The aim is to move beyond mere places to read books and strengthen their role as "learning centers" linked to the curriculum.
