(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 8일, 인천형 행정체제 개편에 따른 국가기초구역 조정(안)을 공유하고 관계기관 협력체계를 강화하기 위해 ‘국가기초구역 관계기관 공유회의’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 이번 회의는 2026년 7월 1일 시행되는 행정체제 개편에 대비해 국가기초구역 조정 필요성을 공유하고, 관계기관 간 협업을 통해 안정적인 제도 정착을 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.
국가기초구역은 도로명주소를 기반으로 국토를 읍·면·동보다 작은 단위로 구분한 구역으로, 우편·통계·경찰·소방 등 다양한 분야에서 공통으로 활용되는 기초 행정 단위다.
특히, 2015년부터 시행된 5자리 우편번호 체계에도 활용되는 등 국민 생활과 밀접한 기반 정보다.
이날 회의에서는 행정체제 개편에 따라 기존 2군 8구에서 2군 9구로 확대되는 행정구역 변화에 맞춰 국가기초구역을 선제적으로 조정하는 방안이 중점적으로 논의됐다.
주요 내용으로는 중구와 동구 일부를 통합해 신설되는 제물포구, 중구 영종지역을 분리한 영종구, 서구를 분구해 설치되는 검단구와 서해구에 대한 국가기초구역 재설정 방안이 포함됐다.
특히, 아라뱃길을 기준으로 검단구와 서해구를 구분하고, 향후 개발 수요를 반영한 예비번호 확보 등 중장기 도시 변화를 고려한 조정 방향도 함께 공유됐다.
인천시는 그동안 행정안전부, 군·구, 한국지역정보개발원과 협력해 총 4차례 실무회의를 거쳐 국가기초구역 조정(안)을 마련했으며, 지난해 12월 행정안전부에 조정안을 제출한 이후 현재 지역주민 및 관계기관 의견수렴을 진행하고 있다.
향후에는 의견 수렴 결과를 바탕으로 중앙행정기관 협의를 거쳐 국가기초구역을 최종 확정·고시할 예정이며, 군·구와 협력해 반상회보, 현수막 등 다양한 매체를 활용한 사전 홍보도 추진할 계획이다.
또한, 주소정보누리집을 통해 행정구역 개편 전·후 주소정보와 매핑자료를 제공하여 시민 불편을 최소화할 방침이다.
이원주 시 도시계획국장은 “국가기초구역은 다양한 행정서비스의 기준이 되는 핵심 기반 정보”라며 “관계기관과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 행정체제 개편에 따른 시민 혼선을 최소화하고, 제도가 안정적으로 정착될 수 있도록 적극 추진해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
