(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 지난 8일, 인천광역시수의사회로부터 ‘학교로 찾아가는 동물사랑교육’ 활성화에 기여한 공로로 감사패를 전달받았다고 밝혔다.
인천시교육청에 따르면, 이날 수여식에는 도성훈 교육감을 비롯해 인천광역시수의사회 오보현 회장, 이정구 부회장, 신호숙 학술이사, 류민상 사업이사 등이 참석했다.
이번 감사패 전달은 지난 2022년 9월 양 기관이 체결한 ‘동물학대 예방교육 민관협력을 위한 업무협약’ 이후, 지역사회 수의사들이 학교 현장을 직접 찾아 생명 존중의 가치를 전파해 온 협력의 결실을 기념하기 위해 마련됐다.
도성훈 교육감은 “현업으로 바쁘신 와중에도 우리 아이들의 생명 존중 교육을 위해 기꺼이 학교 현장으로 발걸음해주시는 수의사 선생님들께 깊은 존경과 감사를 표한다”며 “오늘 주시는 감사패는 현장에서 땀 흘려주신 수의사분들의 헌신에 대한 격려라 생각하고, 앞으로도 학생들이 생명을 책임 있게 대하는 미래 시민으로 성장하도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 소감을 밝혔다.
현재 운영 중인 ‘학교로 찾아가는 동물사랑교육’은 인천광역시수의사회 소속 전문 수의사들이 초등학교 5학년 학급을 방문해 2차시 분량의 이론 및 실습 교육을 진행하는 프로그램이다.
주요 내용은 반려·유기동물에 대한 이해, 동물학대 예방, 올바른 펫티켓 및 등록 방법 등으로 구성되어 학생들이 동물과 조화롭게 공존하는 생태 감수성을 함양하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
인천시교육청은 앞으로도 지역 전문기관과의 협력을 강화하여 학생들의 올바른 정서 함양과 생명 존중 문화 확산에 앞장설 계획이다.
