(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구가 9일, 전통시장 이용객의 주차 편의성을 높이고 지역 상권 활성화를 도모하기 위해 ‘계양산전통시장 제2공영주차장 조성 공사’를 본격 착공했다고 밝혔다.
계양구에 따르면, 해당 사업은 중소벤처기업부 주관 전통시장 주차환경개선 사업 공모에 선정된 것으로, 국비 70억 원과 시비 23억 원을 지원받아 총 150억 원 규모로 추진된다.
주차장은 병방동 350번지 일원에 지하 1층, 지상 2층 4단 규모로 조성되며, 총 102면의 주차 공간을 확보할 계획이다.
4월 착공해 올해 12월 준공을 목표로 한다.
계양산전통시장은 많은 방문객에 비해 주차 공간이 부족해 이용객과 인근 주민의 불편이 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다.
이번 공영주차장 조성으로 주차 여건이 개선되고 시장 접근성이 향상되면서, 방문객 증가와 상권 활성화로 이어지는 선순환 효과가 기대된다.
계양구는 공영주차장 확충을 핵심 과제로 추진하며 원도심 주차난 해소에 속도를 내왔다.
