<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 김형렬 기자> 포천시의 초대형 국책사업인 포천양수발전소 건설이 시공사 선정을 마치고, 지역경제 활성화를 위한 본격적인 상생 행보에 돌입했다.
포천시는 지난 9일 시청에서 ‘포천양수발전소 건설사업 지역상생 협력 회의’를 열고 시공사 확정에 따른 구체적인 지역경제 상생 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.
이날 회의에는 포천시장을 위시해 경제환경국장 등 시 관계자들과 한국수력원자력 포천양수건설소, 시공을 맡은 현대건설 관계자 등 12명이 머리를 맞댔다.

2025년 8월 실시설계 승인을 기점으로 본궤도에 오른 포천양수발전소 사업은, 지난 3월 토공 분야 메인 시공사로 대형 건설사인 현대건설을 최종 낙점했다. 해당 공사에는 금호건설과 태영건설도 연합체(컨소시엄)를 이뤄 합류한다.

이날 테이블에 오른 핵심 화두는 단연 '지역경제 수혜'였다. 참석자들은 대규모 토목 공사가 진행되는 만큼 관내 건설업체의 참여 지분을 늘리고, 지역 생산 자재를 우선 도입하며, 포천 주민을 최우선으로 고용하는 등 실질적인 상생 협력 방안을 심도 있게 조율했다.
이에 시공사인 현대건설과 발주처인 한수원 측도 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣는 데 적극적으로 뜻을 모으기로 화답했다.
시는 이번 논의가 선언적 의미에 그치지 않도록, 오는 5월 포천시·한수원·현대건설이 모두 참여하는 '3자 협의체'를 공식 출범시켜 지역업체 참여와 일자리 창출을 제도적으로 구체화할 방침이다.
