횡성군에 따르면, 민족의 소리를 오롯이 보존하고 있는 정금마을(횡성회다지소리전승보존회 주관)에서 오는 18일부터 19일까지 양일간 ‘제38회 횡성회다지소리민속문화제’가 개최된다.

지난 1987년 태기문화제로 첫발을 뗀 이 문화제는 한국 고유의 상장례 문화를 계승하는 횡성군의 자랑거리다. 올해는 ‘삶을 다지고 희망을 노래하다’라는 슬로건 아래, 전통의 원형을 보존하면서도 현대적 감각을 덧입힌 주민 참여형 축제로 탈바꿈해 관람객들을 맞이한다.
특히 이번 축제는 관객이 단순한 구경꾼에 머물지 않는다. 광대들의 맛깔나는 만담과 연극적 요소가 더해진 상장례 재현 과정에서 관객들은 직접 조문객이 되거나 상주가 되어 상여를 매고, 땅을 다지는 ‘회다지’ 동작에 동참하며 잊혀져 가는 공동체적 유대감을 흠뻑 느낄 수 있다.

이튿날인 19일에는 강원도의 소리가 한데 모인다. 횡성어러리, 원주어리랑, 평창아라리 등 무형유산 교류 공연이 전통의 멋을 더하고, 횡성오케스트라와 청소년 댄스팀 등 지역 예술단체가 출격해 세대를 아우르는 문화 교류의 장을 완성할 예정이다.
