<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 김형렬 기자> 포천시가 쾌적한 주거 환경을 지키고 지하수와 하천의 수질 오염을 막기 위해 선제적 관리에 나섰다.
포천시는 13일부터 관내 개인하수처리시설(정화조) 관리자를 대상으로 '정화조 내부 청소 의무 안내 엽서'를 발송한다고 밝혔다.
현행 하수도법에 따르면 정화조 내부는 연 1회 이상 정기적으로 청소해야 한다. 제때 청소가 이뤄지지 않을 경우 심각한 악취를 유발할 뿐만 아니라, 하수 처리 효율이 급격히 떨어져 인근 하천과 지하수 오염의 주범이 될 수 있기 때문이다.
이번 1차 발송 대상은 소흘읍, 신북면, 가산면, 관인면, 내촌면 등 5개 읍·면 지역의 정화조 관리자 7,800여 명이다. 시는 청소 수요가 한꺼번에 몰려 빚어지는 시민 불편을 최소화하기 위해 오는 7월 31일까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 엽서를 분산 발송할 계획이다. 나머지 지역에 대해서는 올 하반기에 순차적으로 안내가 진행된다.
