<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 김형렬 기자> 포천시가 관내 외국인 주민들의 안정적인 지역사회 정착과 경제적 자립을 돕기 위해 두 팔을 걷어붙였다.
포천시는 지난 11일, 포천외국인주민지원센터가 주관한 '외국인 주민 바리스타 2급 자격증 취득과정'을 성황리에 마무리했다고 14일 밝혔다.

지난 3월 21일부터 4월 11일까지 매주 토요일 총 4회에 걸쳐 진행된 이번 교육은 단순한 커피 추출 체험을 넘어, 실제 취업 현장에서 즉시 활용 가능한 전문 자격증 취득을 목표로 강도 높은 이론과 실습이 병행됐다.
이번 과정에는 캄보디아, 베트남, 중국, 미얀마 등 4개 국적의 외국인 주민 15명이 열띤 학구열을 불태우며 참여했다. 특히 시는 한국어가 서툰 교육생들의 언어 장벽을 해소하기 위해 센터 소속 전문 통역상담사 3명을 수업 현장에 전면 배치하는 세심함을 보였다. 그 결과, 신청자 15명 중 무려 14명이 과정을 최종 이수하고 바리스타 2급 자격증을 취득하는 값진 성과를 일궈냈다.
바리스타 자격증을 거머쥔 한 수료생은 "전문적인 실습 교육과 세심한 통역 지원 덕분에 자신감을 잃지 않고 끝까지 해낼 수 있었다"며 "앞으로 바리스타로서 당당하게 취업의 문을 두드리고 싶다"고 벅찬 소감을 전했다.
