【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군피클볼협회는 지난 10일 증평공업고등학교 두타관에서 창단식과 함께 김진응 초대회장의 취임식을 성황리에 개최했다.
이날 행사에는 내외 귀빈과 회원 등 50여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
협회는 올해 2월부터 회원 모집을 시작해 현재 57명의 회원이 가입했으며, 3월 10일 창단 추진위원회를 구성하고 3월 23일 설명회 및 회원 상견례를 진행한 후 이날 공식 창단식을 맞이했다.
창단식에서는 협회 창단 추진에 기여한 도광식 위원과 김선휘 위원에게 감사장이 전달됐으며, 지역 체육 인재 육성을 위해 증평공고 카누부 1학년 리사 선수에게 장학금 20만 원이 수여돼 의미를 더했다.
김진응 초대회장은 취임사에서 “회원들과 활발히 소통하며 쾌적하고 안전한 환경을 조성해 모두가 함께 즐길 수 있는 문화 공간을 만들어가겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
이어 “증평군민이라면 누구나 언제든 참여할 수 있도록 항상 열린 마음으로 기다리고 있다”며 군민들의 관심과 참여를 당부했다.
한편, 피클볼은 1965년 미국에서 시작된 스포츠로 배드민턴, 테니스, 탁구의 요소가 결합된 종목이다.
