대한민국은 분명 위대한 나라다. 전쟁의 폐허 속에서 세계 10위권 경제로 도약했고, 기술과 문화로 세계의 중심에 서 있다. 그러나 그 거대한 성취의 그림자 속에서, 정작 국민의 삶은 점점 작아지고 있는 것은 아닌가.
오늘의 현실은 냉혹하다. 가계는 빚에 눌려 숨이 막히고, 미래를 꿈꾸기보다 당장의 생존을 걱정한다. 특히 이재명 정부가 직면한 가장 시급한 과제는 ‘성장’이 아니라 ‘삶’이다. 저신용자와 신용불량자 수백만 명을 외면한 채 거시경제 지표만 붙잡고 있는 한, 국민의 체감경기는 끝없이 추락할 수밖에 없다.
더 큰 문제는 사회 전반에 퍼진 ‘나만 괜찮으면 된다’는 병이다. 공동체는 사라지고, 각자도생의 정글만 남았다. 분노와 불신, 불안과 무관심이 뒤엉켜 사회를 좀먹고 있다. 좌우 이념은 극단으로 치닫지만, 정작 위아래?즉 미래와 본질?에 대한 고민은 사라졌다.
아이를 낳으라 하지만 키울 환경은 부족하고, 인문학과 기초과학을 홀대하면서 노벨상을 꿈꾼다. 월급은 제자리인데 소비를 늘리라 하고, 사교육은 방치하면서 인성을 말한다. 역사에는 눈을 감으면서 미래만 외치는 이 모순의 나라. 다가온 AI 시대와 4차 산업혁명의 물결 앞에서도 우리는 여전히 부동산에 집착한다. 기술이 아니라 땅에 미래를 맡기는 선택, 그것이 과연 지속 가능한가? 국가가 위기에 처하면 늘 국민의 희생을 요구해왔다. 그러나 이제는 달라져야 한다. 국가는 국민을 위해 존재해야 한다. 성장은 숫자가 아니라 사람의 삶으로 증명되어야 한다.
지금의 대한민국은 기로에 서 있다. 이대로 각자도생의 길로 갈 것인가, 아니면 함께 사는 공동체로 돌아갈 것인가. 그 선택의 시간은, 이미 시작되었다.

Korea is definitely a great country. From the ruins of war, it has emerged as one of the world's top 10 economies and stands at the center of the world in terms of technology and culture. However, in the shadow of that great achievement, isn't the life of the people actually getting smaller?
Today's reality is harsh. Households are suffocating under debt, and they worry about immediate survival rather than dreaming of the future. In particular, the most urgent task facing the Lee Jae-myung administration is not ‘growth’ but ‘life’. As long as we only focus on macroeconomic indicators while ignoring the millions of people with low credit and bad credit, the people's perceived economic performance is bound to continue to decline.
The bigger problem is the disease of ‘I just need to be okay’ that has spread throughout society. The community has disappeared, and only the jungle of individual lives remains. Anger, distrust, anxiety and indifference are all intertwined and eating away at society. Ideologies of the left and right are pushed to extremes, but worries about up and down, i.e. the future and essence, have disappeared.
They are told to have children, but there is not enough environment to raise them, and they neglect humanities and basic science and dream of winning the Nobel Prize. They talk about increasing consumption even though salaries remain the same, and they talk about character while neglecting private education. This country of contradictions only cries out for the future while closing its eyes on history. Even in the face of the approaching AI era and the wave of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we are still obsessed with real estate. The choice to entrust the future to the land rather than technology, is that truly sustainable? When the country is in crisis, it has always demanded sacrifice from its citizens. But now things must change. The country must exist for the people. Growth must be proven by people's lives, not numbers.
The Republic of Korea today stands at a crossroads. Will we continue on this path of individual survival, or will we return to a community where we live together? The time for that choice has already begun.
