이슬람권 국가들 중, 사우디아라비아에게 이스라엘을 인정하고 국교 수교와 상호 교류를 원하는 것은 미국이다. 왜냐하면 그동안 제국주의적 행위로 석유나 가스를 약탈해왔던 집단 서방과 미국은 사우디와 이스라엘 연결함으로써 얻을 이득이 더 많기 때문이다. 사우디와 이스라엘이 화해모드가 들어가면 주변의 카타르, UAE, 바레인, 쿠웨이트, 오만, 요르단 등이 따라오게 되어 있기 때문에 석유 자원 강탈에도 유리하고 시아파 국가들을 고립시킴으로써 이슬람 연합을 방해할 수 있다. 그리고 이집트를 비롯한 북아프리카 5개국과 이란-이라크의 연결을 지정학적으로 단절시킬 수 있으니 미국이 얻는 이득은 크다고 볼 수 있다.
사우디와 이스라엘을 화해시킨 인물은 바이든이다. 아마 3년 전 바이든이 재선할 수 있는 가장 유력한 카드가 사우디-이스라엘을 연결시켜 중동의 평화를 이끌어 오는 것이다. 사우디와 이스라엘의 화해 무드 조성은 미국의 입장에서 볼 때 일거삼득이 되는것이다. 게다가 서구 유럽 또한 러시아의 천연가스 파이프라인이 끊긴 이후, 안정적으로 에너지를 수급할 수 있게 되니 이거만큼 최상의 수가 어디있을까? 이란이 이스라엘과 사우디아라비아를 지도상에서 지워버리자고 헌법에 명시했다고 하는데 이스라엘이면 몰라도 사우디아라비아를 지도상에서 지워버리자고 헌법에 명시됐다는 얘기는 이 분야의 전문가에 속하는 나도 처음 듣는 낭설이다.
이란 이슬람 헌법 제154조 등에서 "모든 무슬림의 권리 옹호"와 "모든 압제받는 이들에 대한 지원"을 명시하고 있는 것은 사실이나 이스라엘과 사우디아라비아를 지도상에서 지워버리자는 헌법 내용은 없다. 그러나 사우디는 이스라엘과의 수교 협상을 중단하면서 양측의 관계도 어긋나 버렸다. 그리고 무슬림은 <꾸란> 내용 중 한 글자라도 벗어나면 이단이냐고 묻는 사람이 있다. 결론적으로는 아니다. 대다수의 세속주의 국가들은 그런 생각 하는 사람 아무도 없다. 그렇게 여기는 분들이 터키나 이집트, 모로코, 아랍에미리트 두바이 등지로 여행이나 비즈니스 사업을 잘 가기도 한다. 그리고 말레이시아나 인도네시아, 중앙아시아 5개 스탄 국가들도 여행 잘만 간다. 이런 국가들은 <꾸란> 한 글자라도 벗어나면 이단으로 여길까? 전혀 그렇지 않다.
그리고 하마스는 이스라엘과 공존을 부인하지만 이스라엘 또한 하마스 및 팔레스탄과 공존을 부인하고 있다. 여태까지 4차 중동 전쟁의 역사에서 이스라엘은 한번도 공존을 주장한 적 없다. 이는 지금도 그렇다. 그리고 유태교인이 이슬람을 거역하는 멸종 대상이라고 봤다는 얘기도 있는데 만약 그랬다면 유태인들은 진작에 멸종됐다. 이미 오스만투르크나 바그다드의 영화를 누린 압바스 왕조 시절 때 멸종됐을 것이다. 그런데 많은 분들은 이러한 역사적인 사실을 모른다. 특히 오스만투르크를 배제하고 이스라엘-팔레스타인 역사를 논하는거 자체가 이해되지 않는다. 오스만이나 압바스, 아유브 왕조 등의 이슬람 국가들도 유태인 관료들이 상당히 많았고 오히려 이슬람은 유태인들을 잘 대우해줬다. 십자군 전쟁 때는 대다수의 유태인들이 기독교인들에게 학살당하자 이집트 아유브 왕조의 살라딘에게 합류하여 기독교와 함께 싸웠다.
이건 역사를 보면, 세계사를 제대로 공부해 본 사람이라면 누구나알 수 있는 대목이다. 그리고 이스라엘을 억지로 영국이 땅을 확보하지 않았다면 오히려 유태인들은 더 보호받고 안전했을 것이다. 당시 토종 유태인들의 종교를 오스만 제국이 인정해줬고 그 대신 세금인 지즈야를 내야했다. 만약 유태인을 멸절하려 했다면 이미 오스만 제국 시기에 예루살렘 성곽, 통곡의 벽, 헤브론, 베들레헴 등등이 모두 사라졌을 것이다. 하마스는 이슬람이란 종교와 함께 가자지구를 지배하고 있는데 이는 지도자들이 문제라는 것이지 모든 무슬림들이나 이슬람이 문제가 아니다. 전 세계는 하마스를 지지하는 것이 아니라 가자 지구 팔레스타인 사람들을 지지한다는 것을 알아야 한다.
그리고 그와 같은 과격 성향의 무슬림이 20억 무슬림 인구의 10~20%가 넘는다는 사실이 무슬림포비아를 몰고 온다는데 실제로 과격 무슬림은 10% 내외에 불과하다. 그렇게 따지면 과거에 제국주의를 하던 과격한 유럽 기독교인들은 식민지 원주민들을 숱하게 학살하고 인종적 차별을 감행했다. 이들 중 유럽 기독교인들이 거의 90%다. 그리고 이슬람에서 우리는 절대적으로 옳고 너는 모든 것이 틀렸기 때문에 너는 말살되어야 마땅하다는 주장을 한 적은 없다. 그냥 기독교 목사들이 <꾸란>이나 <하디스>를 짜집기 해서 이슬람에 대해 안 좋은 소리를 하는 것에 한국은 영향을 많이 받고 있다. 그러니 무슬림과 공존하기 끔찍하게 여길 수밖에 없다.

If Saudi Arabia and Israel enter a reconciliation phase, neighboring countries such as Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan are bound to follow suit. This offers advantages in plundering oil resources and allows the United States to disrupt the Islamic coalition by isolating Shiite nations. Furthermore, since it allows for the geopolitical severance of the Iran-Iraq alliance with the five North African nations, including Egypt, the benefits for the United States can be considered significant.
The figure who brought about reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Israel is Biden. Perhaps three years ago, the most compelling card for Biden's re-election was connecting Saudi Arabia and Israel to bring peace to the Middle East. From the perspective of the United States, fostering a mood of reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Israel is killing three birds with one stone. There is also talk that Jews were viewed as targets for extinction because they defied Islam, but if that were the case, Jews would have gone extinct long ago. They would have already been wiped out during the Ottoman Empire or the Abbasid dynasty, which enjoyed the glory of Baghdad. However, many people are unaware of these historical facts. In particular, it is incomprehensible to discuss the history of Israel and Palestine while excluding the Ottoman Empire. Islamic states such as the Ottoman, Abbasid, and Ayyubid dynasties had a significant number of Jewish officials, and Islam actually treated Jews well. It is claimed that the fact that radical Muslims make up over 10–20% of the 2 billion Muslim population drives Muslimphobia, but in reality, radical Muslims constitute only about 10%. By that logic, radical European Christians who engaged in imperialism in the past massacred countless indigenous peoples in their colonies and committed racial discrimination. European Christians accounted for nearly 90% of them. Furthermore, Islam has never claimed that "we are absolutely right and you are completely wrong, so you deserve to be annihilated." Korea is simply heavily influenced by Christian pastors who piece together passages from the Quran or Hadith to make negative remarks about Islam. Consequently, it is inevitable that they find the idea of coexisting with Muslims terrifying.
