2021년부터 2025년까지 대구 지역 학교폭력 피해응답률은 각각 0.5%, 0.3%, 0.8%, 0.9%, 1.1%로, 늘 전국 평균(1.1%~2.5%)보다 낮게 나타났다.
교육부가 실시한 학교폭력 실태조사 결과로, 현장 중심의 예방, 대응, 회복 정책이 효과를 보인 것으로 분석된다.
대구교육청은 학교폭력 대응을 ‘사전 예방-행정 지원-관계 회복’ 3단계 구조로 운영하고 있다. 단순히 적발이나 처벌에 그치지 않고, ‘과정 관리’에 방점을 뒀다는 점에서 차별화된다.
사전 예방 단계에서는 각 학교가 학기 초 ‘학교문화 책임규약’을 제정하고, 서명 및 선포식을 통해 학교 구성원 모두가 방관하지 않는 문화를 확산하는 데 힘쓰고 있다.

대구교육청은 앞으로도 예방, 대응, 회복의 균형을 유지하면서 현장 중심 정책을 지속해서 강화할 계획이다.
