전남도는 16일 나주에서 도 및 시·군, 도교육청, 교육지원청, 가족센터 관계자 110여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2026년 다문화가족지원 네트워크 협의회’를 개최했다.
이번 협의회는 다문화 정책 관련 기관들이 한자리에 모여 현장 중심의 협력체계를 강화하고, 특히 향후 전남·광주의 행정통합에 대비한 실질적인 정책 설계와 발전 방향을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 회의에서는 경기도의 이민사회정책 추진 사례와 안산시의 이주배경청소년 지원 우수사례가 소개되어 참석자들의 큰 관심을 끌었다. 이를 바탕으로 전남 지역 여건에 맞는 정책 적용 방안과 향후 추진 과제에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 이어졌다.
특히 주제토론에서는 행정통합 시대에 걸맞은 정책 실행 방안을 도출하기 위해 ▲다문화 지원사업의 재구조화(선택과 집중) ▲결혼이민자 학부모의 학교 참여 확대(소통과 참여) ▲‘다문화’에서 ‘이주배경’으로의 정책 대상 전환(변화와 대응) 등 3가지 핵심 주제가 다뤄졌다.
참석자들은 다문화 정책이 기존의 단편적인 ‘보호와 지원’ 방식에서 벗어나, 개인의 성장과 가정의 온전한 ‘자립’을 돕는 방향으로 패러다임이 전환되어야 한다는 데 공감대를 형성했다. 이를 위해 실질적인 소통 지원책 마련과 지자체-교육청-가족센터 간의 역할 재정립 및 협업을 강조했다.
진미선 전남도 이민정책과장은 “다문화가족은 전남의 미래를 함께 만들어갈 소중한 구성원”이라며 “다양성을 지역의 경쟁력으로 승화시키기 위해 현장의 목소리에 귀 기울이고, 다문화가 지역의 강점이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
