브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KB국민은행은 제46회 ‘장애인의 날’을 맞아 ‘고양특례시장컵 제31회 홀트전국휠체어농구대회’를 후원했다고 20일 밝혔다.
‘홀트전국휠체어농구대회’는 국내 최장수 장애인스포츠 단일 종목 대회로, 1995년 창설 이후 올해로 31회째를 맞았다. KB국민은행은 2008년부터 코로나19로 대회가 중단된 2020년을 제외하고 매년 후원을 이어오며, 올해로 19년째 장애인의 재활 의지를 북돋고 스포츠를 통한 사회 참여 확대에 기여하고 있다.
이번 대회는 지난 18일부터 20일까지 경기 고양시 홀트장애인종합체육관에서 열렸으며, 국내 1부 리그 6개팀을 포함해 선수단과 경기 운영위원, 관중 등 약 600명이 참가했다.
행사 현장에는 KB금융그룹이 운영하는 ‘KB착한푸드트럭’도 참여했다. 해당 프로그램은 고물가와 고금리로 어려움을 겪는 푸드트럭 소상공인의 영업 환경 개선과 지역 사회 참여 기회를 지원하는 KB금융그룹의 대표 포용금융 프로그램이다. 이날 현장에서는 선수와 자원봉사자들에게 간식과 음료를 무료로 제공하며 응원의 마음을 전했다.
KB국민은행 관계자는 “참가 선수들의 열정과 도전이 장애인들의 재활 의지를 복돋고 장애인에 대한 사회 인식 개선으로 이어지길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 장애인의 자립과 사회 참여 확대를 지원하는 포용금융을 지속적으로 실천해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, KB국민은행은 홀트전국휠체어농구대회 후원 외에도 장애 대학생을 위한 지원을 이어오고 있다. 2009년부터 매년 ‘KB신입장애대학생 노트북 지원 사업’을 통해 새내기 장애 대학생들에게 최신형 노트북과 장애 유형에 맞는 학습 보조기기를 제공하며, 교육 환경의 격차 해소와 학업 역량 강화를 돕고 있다.
