충주시는 오는 4월 26일 오전 10시, 충주 삼화대장간(충인1길 12)에서 김명일 야장의 ‘무형유산 공개행사’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 전통 야장(冶匠) 기술의 가치와 우수성을 널리 알리고, 지역 문화유산에 대한 시민들의 이해와 관심을 높이기 위해 기획됐다.
이날 행사에서는 김명일 야장이 직접 괭이와 미니 호미를 제작하는 과정을 시연한다.
뜨거운 화덕에서 달궈진 쇠붙이를 장인의 손길로 두드리고 벼려내는 전통 방식 그대로의 금속공예 정수를 선보일 예정이다.
시연과 더불어 시민들이 직접 대장간 작업을 경험해 볼 수 있는 ‘미니 호미 제작 체험’ 프로그램도 함께 운영된다.
참가자들은 쇠를 다루는 장인의 기술력을 가까이서 접하며, 전통 도구 하나에 담긴 정성과 장인정신을 몸소 느껴볼 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
이번 공개행사는 「충청북도 무형유산 보전 및 진흥에 관한 조례」에 따라 무형유산의 전승 기반을 강화하고 그 가치를 대중화하기 위해 매년 정기적으로 추진되는 행사다.
