[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 창녕군이 전국 최고의 수온을 자랑하는 부곡온천을 중심으로 의료와 관광, 정주 기능이 결합된 ‘웰니스 온천도시’ 조성을 위한 대장정에 나섰다.
군은 21일 군청 군정회의실에서 ‘웰니스 온천도시 조성 기본구상 연구용역’ 착수보고회를 개최하고, 부곡온천의 재도약을 위한 본격적인 밑그림 그리기에 착수했다.
이번 연구용역은 경상남도와 군이 공동 추진하는 프로젝트로 온천욕 중심의 기존 관광 모델에서 벗어나, 78℃의 고온 온천수를 활용한 의료·치유 서비스와 체류형 생활 인프라가 결합된 ‘복합형 온천도시’ 모델을 정립하는 것이 핵심이다.
이날 보고회에는 경상남도와 군 관계자, 경남연구원, ㈜한가람E&C 등 수행기관과 전문가들이 참석해 지역 여건 분석 계획과 향후 추진 일정 등에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 교환하며 실효성 있는 전략 마련을 위해 머리를 맞댔다.
군은 부곡온천이 가진 우수한 접근성과 고유 자원을 기반으로 정주 여건을 대폭 개선하고 생활서비스 기능을 확충할 방침이다.
특히 행정안전부의 인구감소지역 대응 공모사업 등 정부 정책과 연계해 국비를 확보하고, 이를 지역 경제 활성화와 인구 소멸 위기 극복의 발판으로 삼을 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “부곡온천은 창녕의 소중한 자산이자 미래 성장의 핵심 동력이며, 이번 용역을 통해 부곡온천이 단순한 관광지를 넘어 생활과 치유가 공존하는 대한민국 대표 웰니스 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 체계적인 실행 전략을 수립하겠다”고 말했다.
