전라남도와 여수시, (재)2026여수세계섬박람회 조직위원회는 21일 여수시 청소년해양교육원에서 윤호중 행정안전부 장관과 김영록 전남도지사가 참석한 가운데 박람회 준비상황 보고회를 열고, 진모지구 주행사장 현장을 직접 확인했다.
이번 점검은 최근 제기된 박람회 준비에 대한 우려를 불식시키고, 국무총리 현장점검 이후 후속 조치를 확인하기 위해 마련됐다. 윤호중 장관은 이날 주행사장의 토목 및 전시관 공사 현황을 비롯해 교통, 편의시설, 안전관리 대책 등을 꼼꼼히 살폈다.
현재 박람회의 전체 공정률은 약 60% 수준이다. 세부적으로는 주행사장 토목공사가 81%, 전시관 건립이 35%를 기록하며 계획된 일정에 따라 정상 추진되고 있다. 조직위는 오는 7월까지 주요 시설 조성을 모두 마무리하고, 8월 한 달간의 사전점검을 거쳐 9월 개막에 차질이 없도록 만전을 기할 방침이다.
