브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 나경원 전 국민의힘 의원이 20일 당 대표 선거 출마를 선언하며 용광로 같은 정당을 만들어 정권교체를 이룩하겠다고 강조했다.
나경원 전 의원은 이날 국회에서 기자회견을 갖고 "수도 없이 고민하고 또 고민했다. 가시밭길이고 십자가를 지고 가는 당 대표 자리를 맡아서, 대한민국 국민이 승리하는 그런 당권 교체를 반드시 이뤄내야한다는 각오로 이 자리에 섰다"며 당 대표 후보로 나서겠다는 의지를 밝혔다.
그는 특히 "용광로같은 정당이 돼야 한다"면서 "가능한 야권 대선후보를 모두 우리 당으로 오실 수 있도록 하겠다. 모든 후보를 받아들이고 제련해 더 단단한 후보, 튼튼한 후보를 배출하겠다"고 말했다.
그는 "내년 대선 승리를 위해 우리 당의 근본적 쇄신이 필요하다"면서 "좋은 후보들이 국민들 앞에 돋보이고, 국민 눈높이에 맞게 더 깎고 다듬어질 수 있도록 국민의힘이 멋진 무대, 훌륭한 인프라가 되어 줘야 한다"고 말했다.
나경원 전 의원은 윤석열 전 검찰총장의 영입을 묻는 질문에도 만날 의향이 있음을 언급하며 "우리 야권 주자가 될 수 있는 모든 후보들을 만날 생각이다. 야권후보들과 생각을 공유하는 것은 매우 중요하고 신뢰를 쌓아가는 것이 중요하다. 윤석열 전 총장 뿐 아니라 김동연 전 부총리, 안철수 국민의당 대표와도 만났다. 당 대표가 된다면 모든 방법으로 모든 가능한 야권 후보 만날 것이다"고 설명했다.
그는 특히 대선적합도 여론조사에서 줄곧 상위권을 유지하고 있는 윤석열 전 검찰총장도 국민의힘으로 들어올 수 밖에 없을 것이라고 했다. 나 전 의원은 "정치는 현실이라 생각한다"며 "실질적으로 양당 정치 구도가 바뀌기는 쉽지 않다고 생각한다. 윤 전 총장께서 또 대선 후보 되기 위해선 우리 국민의힘에 들어올 수밖에 없는 수순이 될 것이다"고 했다.
다만 드는 "들어올 문로를 제대로 여는 게 중요하다. (입당) 시기에 마지노선이 있는 것은 아니지만 저희 당에 들어와서 함께 경선하는 것이 바람직하지 않겠느냐 본다. 물론 우리 당헌·당규 상 대통령 후보를 뽑는 마지노선은 있으나, 이는 저희가 탄력적으로 적용할 수 있다고 본다"고 말했다.
그는 아울러 스마트한 정당을 언급하며 다양한 이슈에 답을 내놓을 수 있는 유능한 정당으로 다시 태어나도록 노력하겠다고 했다. 그 근거로 공정하고 투명한 인재 영입과 여의도연구원과 같은 싱크탱크의 정책기능을 강화하는 방안을 제시했다.
한편 나 전 의원은 이날 오후 광주광역시 북구에 위치한 국립 5·18 민주묘지를 방문하며 당권 주자로서 첫 일정을 시작한다. 나 전 의원은 "어제는 대구·경북(TK), 부산·경남(PK) 사찰에 다녀와 민심을 들었고, 오늘은 첫 행보로 회견 마치고 광주로 간다"며 "광주에 가서 5·18 민주묘지도 가고 성묘도 하고 광주의 민심을 듣겠다"고 말했다.

Meanwhile, Na will visit the May 18 National Cemetery in Buk-gu, Gwangju, later in the day to begin her first schedule as a candidate for the party's leadership. "Yesterday, I went to Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province (TK), Busan, and South Gyeongsang Province (PK) temples and heard public sentiment.
